Excitement mounted as all children led the Opening Procession at our Primary Sports Day with each team’s country’s flag held up high. We chose the countries Burundi, Rwanda, Poland and Great Britain because The King’s School has links with each of these countries. After the procession parents and visitors were treated to our Years 5 and 6 Opening Ceremony Stomp.
As the races started, our wonderful compere, Simon Guillebaud, entertained parents and children with his quick wit and commentary. Pupils all participated in a sprint, an obstacle race and team games. Children from Years 5 and 6 were later challenged with a 400m race which the winner completed in 1 minute and 46 seconds, an incredible time!
When the joint winners for the day, Burundi and GB were announced, the children completed an exciting lap of honour.
Mrs Bowden awarded certificates and ice lollies to every child at the end for taking part. At The King’s School, children choose to encourage one another and have a good heart attitude when approaching competitive events like these.
