At the end of November we took our 13 House Captains away for two nights at a beautiful Christian retreat centre in Penhurst, East Sussex, not far from Hastings http://www.penhurst.org.uk/ In this peaceful setting we explored what it means to be a leader, looking at Biblical characters for inspiration. It was good to talk and pray together and God really encouraged the leaders to step out and be bold about their faith at school and with others. Since their return they have organised lunchtime prayer and worship sessions for any students who want to come along.
On day 2 we braved a field of cows as we trekked to Ashburnham Conference Centre for hot chocolate before returning to a hot meal and a roaring fire. Unfortunately our camp fire was rained off this year, but we entertained ourselves with some silly games before bed.
Students commented that they really felt connected to God in our times of worship and that their faith and belief was strengthened by the time away together. Our House Captains do an amazing job leading their House Prayers sessions each week and we are excited to see what God will do in them and through them throughout the rest of the year.
